(--- this is a work in progress --- need to integrate the photos easily -- outlook express mail doesn't seem to do it...)
just a quick note on our travels this weekend -- we had a great time hiking in the hills around Marysville - a town on the northeast side of victoria. the weather was perfect. we wanted to start building up our mountain hiking legs for a potential trip along the Inca trail to Machu Picchu later this year... we were aching at the end of the day (about 11k) so we've got some work to do!
the forest trees were eucalypts with a lush undergrowth of large ferns - very tropical and unlike much of australia (including melbourne only 100k away)....
-- the route -- up to steavenson's falls via the tree fern gully, and return by the keppel track:
--
---- on the trail:
--- steavenson falls:
--- Marysville vista
--- flowers along the ridge-line
--- "fraga's" -- a restaurant in marysville at which we had a great trout dinner that night (after limping back to our hotel room):
--- some more falls the next day - we drove mostly with limited hiking...
all in all we had a great trip -- i'm looking forward to getting up there again....
